A Look Into the Past
When Europeans came over to the United States, one of the first places they visited was the area now known as Arlington, FL. The French installed Fort Caroline in the mid-1500s here. By the 1800s, plantations and sawmills filled up the communities along St Johns River. Residential developments sprang up in Arlington after the Civil War. But development really took off upon completion of the Matthews Bridge in 1953. Until the mid-1970s, Arlington was known as the fastest-growing community in Jacksonville.

Household income averages $35,832. Its diverse community, low cost of living, excellent commute times, and beautiful weather make it a wonderful place to live.
What to See and Do in Arlington
Arlington may look like your typical suburbia at first glance. But, look a little closer and you’ll find that natural beauty abounds. Revisit its early history at the Fort Caroline National Memorial. The Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve cover 46,000 acres on the outskirts of Arlington. Here, you’ll find the Kingsley Plantation, American Beach, Cedar Point, the Theodore Roosevelt Area, and much, much more. Spend hours hiking or canoeing at the preserve. Tree Hill Nature Center houses several different animal species. Their community garden supplies fresh food to the Arlington Community Services’ food pantry. And their annual butterfly festival is truly a sight to behold. The Jacksonville Arboretum and Garden offers miles of hiking and biking trails for any adventurous soul.
