The hidden Jacksonville gem known as Arlington has recently begun to show itself as a beautiful community in which to live. Nature surrounds this suburban oasis offering lots of outdoor activities, such as hiking, biking, and kayaking. But its location near the more bustling urban centers of Jacksonville make it an ideal place for anyone to live.

A Look Into the Past

When Europeans came over to the United States, one of the first places they visited was the area now known as Arlington, FL. The French installed Fort Caroline in the mid-1500s here. By the 1800s, plantations and sawmills filled up the communities along St Johns River. Residential developments sprang up in Arlington after the Civil War. But development really took off upon completion of the Matthews Bridge in 1953. Until the mid-1970s, Arlington was known as the fastest-growing community in Jacksonville.
